The Consensus Blind Spot
When everyone seems to agree, what have you actually established? The Consensus Blind Spot is a practical 90-minute introduction to The Architecture of Consensus™. Examine how a convincing headline, repeated coverage and a quiet meeting can create the impression of stronger support than the evidence warrants. Work through a fictional service decision to test a claim, trace its sources and recognise whose information may be missing. You will practise • Separating facts, interpretations, values and recommendations. • Checking whether repeated messages provide independent evidence. • Inviting a missing perspective before closing a decision. • Recording a recommendation, its conditions, remaining disagreement and a review point. The experience moves from a private judgement and evidence reveal into a source-chain challenge, a three-role meeting and a scored decision exercise. Pair coaching, reflection and a challenge clinic give practitioners and experienced specialists room to test the ideas. Scoring rewards the quality of the reasoning and review, with participation optional. Who it is for Politicians and public leaders, policymakers, news publishers and editors, senior executives, board members, and coaches or organisational psychologists working with leadership teams. The focus is informed public communication and organisational decision practice. Your takeaway A six-checkpoint decision map, a claim-checking prompt, a practical decision record and one action to use within 24 hours, followed by a seven-day workplace conversation. The session offers a focused opportunity to practise; it does not claim mastery in 90 minutes.
